Answering Your Top Romantic Retreat Questions

This is the perfect opportunity to indulge in something you both love to do, or have always wanted to try. The possibilities are plentiful and it all comes down to where you are and what your passions are.

Some couples use their honeymoon to just spend time relaxing together on the beach, especially if day to day life is quite hectic and they rarely get to spend quality time together one-on-one. Similarly spa experiences are very popular because they give the couple some much needed rest and relaxation after the busy build up to the wedding.

If you’re looking for more of an active honeymoon, you might want to try somethings like hiking to beautiful viewpoints to have a romantic picnic together, or maybe adrenaline filled experiences like paragliding or swimming with sharks where you will certainly make lifelong memories together.

There are so many amazing destinations around the world that are perfect for couples, and what’s best for one couple might not be for another so it’s very much down to your own personal preferences. However there are some destinations which have all the right ingredients to make a perfect romantic getaway, but of course this list is far from exhaustive so if you’d like more ideas please feel free to reach out to us!

Maldives: World famous amongst newlyweds due to its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters and luxurious overwater bungalows, the beautiful surroundings make the Maldives a popular choice for couples looking to experience the ultimate indulgence.

Santorini, Greece: Santorini is much loved by couples thanks to its beautiful sunsets, iconic white-washed buildings and stunning views across the water. The Greek islands have something inherently romantic about them, meaning they’re perfect for celebrating eternal love.

Thailand: Famous known for its pristine beaches, delicious food and rich culture, Thailand a great destination for couples who are looking for a cultural experience far removed from that of the UK.

Tuscany, Italy: The rolling hills and secluded farm houses of Tuscany create the most beautiful backdrop to enjoy a romantic break together. With it’s charming towns, delicious food and home grown wine, your love will blossom with special shared experiences.

The length of a honeymoon can vary depending on the your preferences, budget and work schedule. Traditionally, honeymoons would tend last for a week or two, but more recently many couples are opting for longer honeymoons which allow them more time to explore places such as Southeast Asia, Australia or Central America.

We think it’s important to remember that this is just one of many wonderful adventures you’ll embark upon throughout your marriage, so there’s no reason to overdo it by trying to squeeze in as many activities or destinations as possible, you may be better off planning a series of shorter trips to set time aside for each other away from the stresses of daily life.

What’s so special about travelling as a couple is it’s your opportunity to completely indulge in whatever makes you happy, and whilst there are many amazing pre-planned packages available, they sometimes lack the little touches that turn it from a normal holiday into a memorable expression of your love for one another.

Something we love to do when planning special trips like honeymoons or anniversaries, is speak to each partner individually to see if there are any surprises they’d like to include for the other. This is a beautiful way to capture moments which are genuinely unexpected and can be as simple as a dinner date or as extravagant as a helicopter tracker from the airport. And of course we’ll always throw in a few surprises of our own for you along the way!

Whilst destination doesn’t always make a romantic break unique, accommodation certainly can. Whether it’s a quirky boutique hotel, a majestic castle, a yurt or a penthouse suite, these are certainly ways to make your stay stand out. This can pair quite nicely with taking a break from technology so that you can be completely present in each other’s company, enjoying the things about each other that made you fall in love in the first place.

Yes! If you are changing your name as part of the marriage ceremony you will need to have an updated passport before you can head off on your honeymoon, if you don’t then you won’t be able to travel.

Luckily you can apply for your new passport up to three months before the ceremony by completing a “Passports for Newlyweds and Civil Partners” form and sending it off to HM Passport Office. You will then receive a new passport which is post-dated to take effect from the date of your marriage and cancelling your previous one at the same time.

One thing to note is that some countries won’t issues visas for post-dated passports, so it’s really important to check with the country’s embassy beforehand. We can help with this process as well so there’s no need to worry.

We absolutely love organising surprise trips, so that’s definitely something we can do! It might be for an anniversary, big birthday celebration or just a chance to spend some quality time together, we’ll make sure that they have the most amazing time including the all important reveal.

Romantic holidays are always special, so we can ride that wave to create the perfect scenario for them to be blown away. Similarly we’ll factor this into the accommodation options and work with the providers to bring them on board, so that they can add some little touches to the room or experience to welcome you both with open arms.

A long weekend away together surrounded by nature and tranquility can be exactly what’s needed to rekindle the passion you hold for one another, because we all know how life can make it easy to lose sight of what’s important. There are some truly magnificent properties around the UK which would be perfect for a romantic getaway, here are just a few of our favourites.
